When this ad came out around 1905, it only took 18 hours to get from New York City to Chicago. The same route, now called the Lake Shore Limited, still runs today, courtesy of Amtrak; it winds along the coastlines of New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Illinois.
If you booked a seat now, it would take between 19 and 22 hours to reach the Windy City.
